Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp to be Guest Artists at Saline Fiddlers Fall Hometown Concert

October 8, 2008

Saline, MI - Creole-Zydeco and Cajun band Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp will appear with the Saline Fiddlers at the Fiddlers' 16th Annual Fall Hometown Concert, on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm, in the Sandra Nadig Auditorium, Saline Middle School, in Saline, Michigan.

This is the first presentation of the uniquely American Creole-Zydeco Cajun style music ever presented in a Saline Fiddlers Hometown Concert. We are thrilled to present to you Dennis Stroughmatt, who formed his quintet in 2002 after living for many years among the French Creole communities in southeast Missouri and Louisiana. Dennis is fluent in French Creole language.

Creole Stomp features Dennis on the fiddle, accordion, and vocals, with Jon Watson (drums/mandolin), Jennifer Stroughmatt (washboard/vocals), Rob Krum (bass guitar/vocals), and Robert Russell (lead guitar/steel guitar/vocals). The band presents an authentic mix of ancient and modern Mississippi River valley music from the whole of the old Louisiana Territory .

The Saline Fiddlers are a 30-piece, semi-professional, touring fiddle band of music students from Saline High School. They will open the concert with a new lively, upbeat program of music, singing and dance, from the traditions of American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, and Celtic music.

Tickets for the Hometown Concert are $15 and $20, and are on sale now. For tickets and information, visit www.salinefiddlers.com or call 866 257-5333, ext. 1.
